Three Sri Lankan domestic workers stole $152,000 worth of jewelry from their employers in Beirut's Clemenceau neighborhood before running away to unknown destination.
Hala Munir Solh, a resident of Arissi building in Clemenceau, claimed that her house helper ran away around 6:00 pm Tuesday after stealing jewelry and clothes. She placed the estimated value of the jewelry at $50,000.

At about the same time, Ghada Mohammed Yamoud, alleged that her Sri Lankan helper stole diamond-decorated jewelry worth $12,000 before running away.

Simultaneously, Najat Mustafa Baba pressed charges against her helper for robbing her of $90,000 worth of jewelry before fleeing the house.

In a separate incident, a fourth Sri Lankan tried to commit suicide at her country's embassy in Hazmiyeh after fleeing her employers' house Tuesday evening.

News reports on Wednesday said the Sri Lankan helper was being treated for wounds and fractures she suffered after throwing herself from the second floor of the embassy building. She is in critical condition.
