Report: Army Intelligence Interrogates 8 Men from Beddawi Over Explosives
Eight men with close links to the Islamic Jihad at the northern Palestinian refugee camp of Beddawi have been interrogated by the Lebanese army intelligence reportedly over their membership to a Salafist group and instructions over use of explosives.
As Safir newspaper said Wednesday that the men – one Lebanese and seven Palestinians – voluntarily went to the intelligence headquarters except for one who was handed over to the army.

Sources told the daily that the army intelligence sent for them after a non-Islamist Palestinian from Beddawi was handed over to the intelligence branch in the north. The man reportedly had a watch connected to a satellite system.

The non-Islamist had ties with one of the eight men summoned by the army, according to the sources. They said the men were questioned for possibly belonging to the Salafist Jihad Movement or for receiving instructions over the usage of explosive materials.

These developments come at a time when the Lebanese army continues to establish a security dragnet around the camp. Palestinian security sources said they did not know the reason behind the arraignment of the men, adding there was a high-level of cooperation with Lebanese security services to ward off any security incident in the camp and its surroundings.
