Lebanese Doctor is Missing at Charles de Gaulle Airport

Sophia Qazzi, a Lebanese physician, has been missing in Paris since the roof collapse at Charles De Gaulle airport Sunday, An Nahar reported on Tuesday.
Qazzi arrived at the Parisian airport on a MEA flight at the time of the roof collapse. She was supposed to catch a connection to New York. Instead, she went missing, An Nahar said.

Her husband, Dr. Dany Abu Jawdeh, frantically contacted the Lebanese embassy in Paris, the French embassy in Beirut and the MEA offices in the two capitals, trying to locate his wife.

He was told that his wife was not among the four killed or the three injured in the incident and that her luggage is still at the airport.

"This made Dr. Abu Jawdeh more worried about the fate of his wife since the responsibility is lost among several parties," An Nahar said. It also quoted him as saying "I don't want to press charges against anyone. I just want to find my wife."

An Nahar stressed that the Lebanese authorities were more duty-bound than French authorities to find Sophia Qazzi. "She is, after all, a Lebanese citizen even though she is lost on French territory," the paper stressed.
