Williams Hopes New Government Commits to Resolution 1701
United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams on Friday expressed his hope that the new government reiterates Lebanon's commitment to Resolution 1701 so that it can advance toward achieving a permanent ceasefire with Israel.
Williams met with Prime Minister Saad Hariri at the Center House and conveyed the "strong support of U.N. by helping the new government on all aspects", he added that Hariri informed him of the opportunities and challenges facing the new government and that the discussion tackled the horizons of future cooperation between the U.N. and the Lebanese government.

Williams also informed Hariri about the U.N. Security Council meeting on Lebanon that was held last week.
