Mehlis Not Aware of Arrest Warrant against Him

Former head of the U.N. independent investigation commission Detlev Mehlis said he was not aware that an international arrest warrant has been issued against him.
"Frankly, I have no idea what you're talking about," Mehlis said when asked to comment on remarks made by former detainee Brig. Gen. Jamil Sayyed.

Sayyed's office had said that an international arrest warrant had been issued against Mehlis.

"I heard years ago by the Lebanese press that Mr. Sayyed had filed a lawsuit against me," Mehlis told pan-Arab daily al-Hayat in a telephone interview. "But where, how, and on what, and whether this was true? I have no knowledge of this. Plus, I am not interested in this issue."
