Aoun: Resistance Arms Essential until Arab-Israeli Conflict is Resolved

Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun said resistance arms were essential until the Arab-Israeli conflict has been resolved.
Aoun wondered whether those who do not want resistance weapons "like Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir and others" would take upon themselves the security of southern Lebanon.

In an interview with LBC's Kalam el-Nass talk show late Thursday, Aoun said that Lebanon cannot rely on its army alone.

"There would have been no need for armed forces had the regular army been able to carry out its duties," Aoun said.

"Each person has to defend himself," adding that weapons should remain in the possession of the resistance "until the Israeli problem has been solved."
