Zahle Residents Protest against Increasing Armed Robbery
Zahle residents, backed by MPs from the capital of the Bekaa as well as popular and student delegations, on Monday staged a daylong sit-in outside the government Serail in protest against increasing armed robbery and assaults in their city.
Zahle MP Joseph Maalouf stressed that the sit-in was "peaceful," and said he hoped that the security plan would include Zahle city.

Zahle municipality chief Asaad Zgheib said the sit-in aims at supporting Lebanese security authorities in their effort to curb crime and improve law enforcement.

Zgheib, however, expressed fear that some citizens "might resort to self-protection which can lead to very serious repercussions."
