Baroud Snaps Back at Mustaqbal Bloc
In his first comment on the mysterious explosion in Beirut's southern suburbs, Interior Minister Ziad Baroud said Wednesday that it was the responsibility of the state to be present in Dahieh.
"The judiciary will take charge of the investigation into the Haret Hreik incident and the government will take the appropriate measures," Baroud told LBC TV network.

He said the judiciary should give answers on the investigation into the blast, stressing the probe was not being carrying out by the interior ministry.

He said the state should be present in the suburbs upon the request of its residents.

Baroud also blasted al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc, saying its statement "did not reflect the mood in cabinet."

On Tuesday, the bloc raised questions on "the first hours of the blast and the absence of clarifications from official authorities, especially the interior ministry."
