RWE Announces Resumption of Gas Deliveries to Ukraine
RWE, Germany's second-biggest power supplier, said on Tuesday it will restart gas deliveries to Ukraine as Russia threatens to cut off the country's supplies.
"RWE -– via its trading and gas midstream arm RWE Supply & Trading –- is the first European supplier to commence gas deliveries to the Ukraine in 2014," the German group said in a statement.
"RWE re-startss today deliveries to the state-owned company, Naftogaz of Ukraine, with gas from its pan-European portfolio," the statement said.
The gas will be transported to Ukraine via Poland.
"These supplies are governed by the existing five-7ear framework agreement between Naftogaz and RWE Supply & Trading signed in May 2012, which foresees deliveries of up to 10 billion cubic meter (bcm) of natural gas per year subject to individually agreed contracts."
