Rocket Fired from Border Area Falls near Bekaa's Fakiha

A rocket launched from the Eastern Mountain Range on the Lebanese-Syrian border landed Tuesday near the northern Bekaa town of al-Fakiha, state-run National News Agency reported.

The agency said the projectile fell east of al-Fakiha, causing no damage or casualties.

Earlier, LBCI television said “a rocket landed between al-Ain and al-Fakiha after being fired from the Eastern Mountain Range."

For its part, Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said “a rocket hit the Tinet al-Fakiha area between the towns of al-Ain and al-Fakiha, causing no casualties.”

On June 28, six rockets fired from the Eastern Mountain Belt landed in and around the northern Bekaa town of Brital without causing any injuries.

Syria-based rebel groups usually claim responsibility for such attacks, arguing that they come in retaliation to Hizbullah's military intervention in Syria.
