Asiri Says Duroy Hotel Suicide Bomber Buried in Saudi Arabia, Accomplice in 'Good Health'

Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri revealed on Sunday that the body of the Duroy Hotel bomber was buried in al-Qassim Province in the kingdom, while his accomplice is "in good health."

“The body of Ali Ibrahim al-Thwaini was handed over to his family in al-Qassim province (in Saudi Arabia) where he was buried on Friday,” Asiri said in comments published in the Saudi daily Okaz.

The diplomat confirmed that al-Thwaini's accomplice, Abdul Rahman al-Shenifi, who was detained by Lebanese security agencies, is “in good health.”

“The embassy is following up his health conditions and the trial process,” Asiri said.

In June, Saudi suicide bomber al-Thwaini detonated his explosives at his room in the Duroy Hotel in Raouche during a raid by General Security officers.

His accomplice al-Shenifi, who was also in the room, survived the blast but was severely injured. A third person is on the run.

The suicide attack was the third in Lebanon in less than a week and sparked fears of renewed violence in a country that has been deeply affected by the civil war in neighboring Syria.
