U.S., French Delegations to Arrive in Lebanon to Discuss Latest Developments

Lebanon will witness in the upcoming days a diplomatic movement that will begin with a visit by Former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, who will meet senior Lebanese officials.

According to al-Joumhouria newspaper, Fillon will visit Lebanon for the second time in less than a year.

He is expected to brief Lebanese officials on the latest developments.

The newspaper also reported that a high-ranking U.S. delegation, which will visit the region, is expected to include Lebanon in its tour.

The delegation will be headed by John Allen, a retired four-star general and U.S. envoy to the coalition fighting Islamic State group.

The delegation will kick off its tour by traveling to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Gulf countries, and Lebanon.

It is still unclear if Turkey will be on the agenda of the delegation.

Last week, Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji attended a meeting for military leaders from more than 20 partner nations in the coalition to degrade and destroy Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Washington.
