Two Abducted Members of al-Hujeiri Family Freed in Bekaa

Khaled and Walid al-Hujeiri were released on Tuesday evening after they were kidnapped in separate incidents in the Bekaa last week.

Khaled was abducted along with Mustafa al-Hujeiri from the town of Taalbaya while Walid was nabbed along with two other members of the al-Hujeiri family in the Masharii al-Qaa border area near Arsal.

The two were handed over to the army's intelligence department in the Bekaa, according to state-run National News Agency.

Earlier on Tuesday, another member of the al-Hujeiri family was abducted in the Baalbek region.

NNA said that the victim was kidnapped on the Riyaq–Baalbek highway near the Nassar Nassar stores.

The assailants, riding in a black Jeep Cherokee vehicle, then fled with the victim to an unknown location.

Earlier, members of the Hujeiri family had blocked the Saadnayel–Taalabaya road in the Bekaa in protest at the kidnapping of Khaled and Mustafa al-Hujeiri.

The road was reopened in the evening after the release of Khaled, according to Future TV.

Tents had been erected in the middle of the road to press for the release of the two men.
