Israel Stages Live Ammo Drill in Shebaa Farms

The Israeli army on Wednesday carried out a live ammunition maneuver in the occupied Shebaa Farms, Lebanon's National News Agency said.

“The Israeli army has been conducting a live ammo drill inside the occupied Shebaa Farms since 5:00 pm,” NNA reported in the evening.

“Around 50 shells were fired” during the maneuver, the agency added.

The drill was accompanied by overflights by reconnaissance drones over the occupied farms and the nearby villages of the Lebanese Orqoub region, NNA said.

The agency had reported that “Israeli forces at the Mount Hermon post opened fire at dawn from heavy machineguns towards the northern and eastern peripheries, the Janaam hills and the nearby valleys.”

It said the shooting lasted for around thirty minutes.

“Unmanned surveillance aircraft flew over the occupied Shebaa Farms and Mt. Hermon's western hills” during the maneuver, NNA added.

On October 7, Hizbullah detonated an explosive device against an Israeli patrol that was passing in the Shebaa Farms, which left two Israeli troops wounded. Israel retaliated by firing 23 artillery shells at southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese group said the bomb attack was in retaliation to the deadly blast that killed its bomb technician Hassan Ali Haidar in the southern town of Adloun on September 5.
