Abou Faour: Some Private Hospitals Ratings are Declining

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour stated on Monday that the ratings of some private hospitals have declined according a new standard system.

The Minister announced the results of hospital ratings in a press conference.

He pointed out that the rating of six private hospitals have declined from class A to class B, three from class A to class C and only four have progressed from class B to class A.

Abou Faour added that 23 private class B hospitals declined in rating to category C.

“We have a responsibility towards the patients and their health. Hospitals are obliged not to discriminate between patients,” Abou Faour said.

“Our aim is to cut down the hospitalization fees and to make them righteous too.”

He stated that the Ministry does not have selective nor vindictive or punitive plans and is open for negotiations, but stressed that patient satisfaction is nonnegotiable.

He said: “We are ready for negotiations on all matters but not on the patients satisfaction,” which is an important and commonly used indicator for measuring the quality in health care.

He concluded saying that the ministry will put a new standard plan six months from present.
