Man Went Missing in Arsal, He Is Likely Abducted by Extremists

A resident of Arsal went missing on Sunday, he was likely abducted by extremist groups into the outskirts of Arsal.

The National News Agency said: “Arsal resident, Abdul Karim Ahmed Humaid, went missing Saturday in Wadi Hmeid.”

“He was likely abducted to the town's outskirts at the hands of jihadist groups,” added NNA.

The number of abduction is increasing especially after the clashes in the town in August between the army and extremist groups, that stormed Arsal and withdrew into its outskirts.

In October, gunmen kidnapped Maher al-Amatouri from Barouk while he was in Arsal, and in September a citizen from al-Hujeirih family was abducted and he was taken into the outskirts or Arsal.

In addition to that, the Islamic State has executed citizen Kayed Gaydah after kidnapping him from Arsal.

These extremist groups are based in the outskirts of Arsal, where small clashes take place between them and the army, since the extremists are trying to infiltrate into the town from the beginning of winter.
