Second Romanian FM Resigns over Diaspora Poll Problems

Romania's Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu resigned on Tuesday, the second to quit over problems with voting abroad during the eastern European nation's presidential election.

Melescanu said he would submit his resignation at a government meeting later on Tuesday, after thousands of Romanian diaspora were unable to cast ballots in the second round of the presidential poll on Sunday.

His predecessor Titus Corlatean quit on November 10 after thousands of Romanians abroad were unable to vote in the first round.

Ethnic German anti-corruption crusader Klaus Iohannis won a shock victory over Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Sunday, the biggest political earthquake since the revolution that overthrew the Communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu 25 years ago.
