Nusra Warns of Vengeance over Capture of Women, Children

Al-Nusra Front warned that it will execute all soldiers and policemen in its custody and inflict more damage in retaliation for any assault against children and women.

“The Lebanese state showed weakness by detaining women and children, and proved that it is Hizbullah's ally,” the Nusra Front told Anatolia news agency.

It stressed that it will “not only execute soldier Mohammed Hammiyeh and the remaining captives in revenge for every killed or homeless child.”

The group also pointed out that it tried “over and over again to open the door of negotiations regarding the case of the soldiers and policemen in its custody but the Lebanese army didn't cooperate.”

The Army Intelligence has reportedly detained ten days ago an alleged wife of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the family members of an al-Nusra Front official who has links to the August abduction of several Lebanese troops and policemen from the northeastern border town of Arsal as the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front jihadists withdrew from the area.

Media reports said that the Lebanese state could use the detained suspects in negotiations to release the abducted servicemen.

So far the two groups have executed three servicemen and a few were released but they are demanding the release of Islamist inmates in return from their freedom.
