Raad Says Hizbullah Ready for Dialogue 'According to Its Principles'
Head of the Loyalty to Resistance bloc, MP Mohammed Raad, stressed Sunday that Hizbullah is willing to engage in dialogue with the al-Mustaqbal movement while underlining that the party will not give up its principles in any talks.
“We are ready for reaching an agreement with others and we want to deal realistically with our partners in the country,” Raad said during a memorial service in the southern town of Majdal Zoun.
Hizbullah is preparing to hold talks with al-Mustaqbal in the coming days at the level of advisers. The two parties are hoping to “defuse Sunni-Shiite tensions” in the country while al-Mustaqbal is seeking to reach an agreement over a so-called “consensual” presidential candidate.
Raad noted that his party is willing to “open the doors of rapprochement and dialogue” according to its “principles” and its view of “the interest of the country.”
“We will remain vigilant in the face of the threats of the Zionist scheme and the takfiri terrorism, because we are clearly seeing and sensing the existential threat posed by the Zionist enemy and the takfiri terrorism,” the MP added.
“Some of those who only recently admitted that Daesh (Islamic State group) is terrorist are still voicing superficial stances,” said Raad, stressing that “there is a need to fully lift the cover off Daesh in order to defeat this threat.”
The lawmaker blamed the crises in Lebanon on “the deeds of some parties, who made bets on the policies of foreign powers and are still supporting Daesh and similar groups.”
Lebanon has been left without a president since May, when the tenure of Michel Suleiman ended, due to sharp differences between the rival March 8 and March 14 alliances.
