Hariri Hails Army in Halting Terrorists in Ras Baalbek: It Has Proven Ability to Face Assaults
Head of the Mustaqbal Movement MP Saad Hariri praised on Saturday the army after its battles against terrorists in the Ras Baalbek region in the eastern Bekaa.
He declared in a statement: “It has proven its ability to confront assaults by extremists and to face terrorist bombings.”
“The army has presented a new line of martyrs, who died while defending their nation, security and stability of all the Lebanese people,” he added.
“I salute the martyrs and their families, who continue to present valuable sacrifices for Lebanon,” Hariri said.
“I call on all the Lebanese people to come together and unite in supporting the army and security forces to allow them to perform their duties in confronting attacks against Lebanon,” he urged.
The army was engaged on Friday in clashes with terrorist groups that attacked one of its positions in Tallat al-Hamra in Ras Baalbek.
Fierce clashes then erupted between the two sides and the army managed to seize control of the area and repel the gunmen.
At least five soldiers were killed in the unrest.
