F1 Newcomer Felipe Nasr Best on Day 3 of Pre-Season Testing

Felipe Nasr, one of three newcomers to Formula One, clocked the fastest time on the third day of pre-season testing on Tuesday.

One of the others, Carlos Sainz Jr — the son of the two-time world rally champion Carlos Sainz — completed a mammoth 136 laps in often wet and rainy conditions.

The 22-year-old Nasr, a Williams test driver last year before joining Sauber, was timed in 1 minute, 21.545 seconds on the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

Ferrari, quickest for the first two days, settled for second best with former champion Kimi Raikkonen finishing .205 slower.

It was another long stretch for Mercedes, too, with Nico Rosberg — last season's F1 runner-up — third best as he managed only slightly fewer laps than on Sunday: 151 compared to 157.
