Army Seizes around 400 Kgs of Drugs in Bekaa

The army confiscated on Monday at least 400 kilograms of drugs in the eastern Bekaa region as part of raids against wanted suspects.

It said in a statement that 70 kgs of processed and 400 kgs of unprocessed cannabis were seized during raids on the Dar al-Wasia area in Baalbek.

A quantity of heroin and Captagon pills, equipment used to manufacture drugs, and a stolen Range Rover vehicle were also confiscated in the operation.

Meanwhile, the military arrested two Lebanese and four Syrians as part of its ongoing security plan in the Bekaa.

The suspects were arrested in the Brital, al-Safry, and Tall Abyad areas.

The army kicked off on Thursday a state-approved security plan in the Bekaa.

It is aimed at cracking down on a number of fugitives and gunmen. Dozens have so far been arrested.

A similar plan was executed in Beirut and the northern city of Tripoli in 2014.
