Dog Rescues Kfarshouba Shepherd from Kidnap by Israeli Army

Israeli troops on Friday made an incursion into Lebanese territory in a bid to abduct a shepherd but the attempt was foiled by the Lebanese man's dog, a media report said.

"The Israeli army staged an ambush in the Jabal al-Rous area inside Lebanese territory but failed to abduct the shepherd Samer Diab after his dog attacked the Israeli troops," LBCI television reported.

Meanwhile, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said "an Israeli infantry unit tried to kidnap the shepherd Samer Salah as he was grazing his flock in the outskirts of his hometown, Kfarshouba.”

“He managed to escape,” the agency added without elaborating.

It however noted that the Israeli soldiers had crossed around 300 meters into Lebanese territory.

Israeli forces had abducted several Lebanese shepherds in recent years. They were all released after interrogation.

Lebanon regularly files U.N. complaints over Israel's near-daily land, air, and sea violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

On Tuesday, an Israeli infantry unit combed the border line near several villages in southern Lebanon, hours after firing flares over al-Wazzani river at dawn.
