Death Toll in Jos, Nigeria Attacks now 51

The death toll in a twin attack on the central Nigerian city of Jos has risen to 51, the country's National Emergency Management Agency said on Wednesday.

"As at yesterday (Tuesday), it was 51," said NEMA coordinator for Jos, Mohammed Abdulsalam.

Boko Haram is suspected of carrying out Sunday night's attack, which saw a mosque hit with bullets and a rocket-propelled grenade, and a restaurant targeted within minutes of each other.

On Monday, the death toll stood at 44, with 47 injured, but Abdulsalam said 25 people had now left hospital.

Jos has been repeatedly targeted by Boko Haram, which has increased the frequency and intensity of its attacks since Muhammadu Buhari became president on May 29.
