Saqr: Saudi-Syrian Safety Net is Aimed at Preventing Internal Explosion
MP Oqab Saqr stressed on Saturday that the Saudi-Syrian safety net is aimed at preventing an explosion on the internal Lebanese scene, but it is not aimed at addressing every single statement that is issued.
"We believe that this net serves Lebanon's interest first and foremost, which lifts a great burden off the Lebanese's shoulders," he told the daily Asharq al-Awsat.
The MP noted that those warning of a Sunni-Shiite conflict in Lebanon are the ones who are stoking the flames of such a dispute.
"Confronting strife lies in unity and working based on the principles agreed upon during the national dialogue, which includes the Special Tribunal for Lebanon," Saqr said.
