Opposition Insists on Toppling Cabinet, Coordinating Stances

The March 14-led opposition is seeking to withdraw confidence from Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in its attempt to topple the government, Ad-Diyar newspaper reported on Friday.

Opposition sources told the daily that the government’s position at the Arab League foreign ministers meeting in Cairo on Syria proved that the cabinet is dominated by Hizbullah and the March 8 forces.

They added that the toppling of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and assigning Najib Miqati earlier this year was to implement a certain agenda.

The sources told the daily that the March 14 forces are preparing a peaceful and democratic confrontation starting with withdrawing the confidence from Mansour that will eventually lead to the toppling of the cabinet.

Opposition parliamentary sources told al-Mustaqbal newspaper on Friday that the performance of the cabinet isn’t “acceptable” anymore especially concerning the funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the assassination of ex-PM Rafik Hariri, the disarming of Hizbullah, and the Syrian turmoil.

The sources told the daily that the cabinet is misleading the public by discussing secondary issues instead of tackling topics that are a priority for the Lebanese like the electoral draft law.

They wondered why Miqati isn’t including the STL funding on the cabinet’s agenda if he was serious about his continuous statements about the commitment to the issue.

Meanwhile, As Safir newspaper reported on Friday that al-Mustaqbal movement is preparing an event on November 27 to mark the Independence Day at Rashid Karami Stadium in the northern city of Tripoli.

The Mustaqbal General-Secretariat urged the movement’s for a massive participation.

The report said ex-PM Saad Hariri will address the public via video link through a huge screen.
