Cabinet Seeking to Avoid Contentious Issues in Next Session
The government is scheduled to hold a meeting later this week as it attempts to avoid tackling issues of dispute, reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Tuesday.
Minister of the Displaced Alice Shabtini told the daily that the “cabinet is avoiding including contentious issues on its agenda.”
This therefore rules out the possibility of cabinet tackling the case of the state security general directorate.
The cabinet is set to convene on Thursday.
It is however expected to address the appointments at Tele Liban's board of directors.
Information Minister Ramzi Jreij said that he will propose this issue during Thursday's meeting.
He hoped that an agreement will be reached, revealing that he is compiling a “complete” file over this matter, which will include briefings on the potential candidates for the position of chairman of the board.
