Hariri, Egytian PM Discuss Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Saad Hariri held a meeting in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart Sharif Ismail where talks focused on the latest developments at the Arab and international arenas, a statement issued by Hariri's press office said.

Means to bolster bilateral ties between Lebanon and Egypt at the economic, commercial and other levels were discussed, added the statement.

Hariri had arrived at 10:30 a.m. at the prime minister's official residence in Cairo where he held a bilateral meeting with Ismail.

The two men then presided over the 8th session of the Egyptian-Lebanese Higher Committee which was attended by the Ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohammad Shaker al-Marqabi, Culture Helmi Nemnem, Finance Amro al-Jarhi, Agriculture Abdul Moneim al-Bana, Trade and Industry Tariq Qabeel, Education Tariq Shawqi, Transport Hisham Arafat, Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr el-Din, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Major General Atef Abdel Fattah and Ambassador of Egypt in Lebanon Nazih Najari.

From the Lebanese side, Deputy PM and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani, Education Minister Marwan Hamadeh, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq, Agriculture Minister Ghazi Zoaiter, Transport Minister Youssef Fenianos, Finance Minister Ai Hassan Khalil, Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil, Economy Minister Raed Khoury, chief of staff of the PM's office Nader Hariri, Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Trade Alia Abbas, and Charge d'Affaires of the Lebanese Embassy in Cairo Antoine Azzam.

A number of agreements were signed at the end of the meeting on the development of relations between the two countries.
