Paris Voices 'Admiration, Support' for Army's Anti-IS Operation

The French Embassy in Lebanon on Monday expressed “utmost admiration and support for the Lebanese army in its battle against the Islamic State group.”

“Lebanon and France are today facing a common enemy,” added the Embassy in a tweet.

It also extended condolences to the families of the soldiers who were killed in the ongoing operation and expressed solidarity with the wounded.

The army heavily pounded IS' hideouts and posts for the third day in a row on Monday, as it scored advances in the outskirts of the border towns of Ras Baalbek and al-Qaa.

The military began its operation in the border region early on Saturday, and has already recaptured two thirds of the territory in the area.

While more than ten soldiers have been wounded in the clashes, a mine blast killed three troops Sunday while on their way to join the offensive.
