U.S. Offers $12M Bounty for Two Hizbullah Officials

U.S. officials on Tuesday announced rewards worth $12 million for information leading to the arrest of alleged two Hizbullah officials – Talal Hamiyah and Fu'ad Shukr.

The rewards were announced at a press conference by U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism official Nathan Sales.

“With our partners, we will confront Hizbullah across the globe and we will bring its leaders and operatives to justice,” Sales said.

“Hizbullah remains one of world’s most dangerous terrorist groups,” he added.

According to a notice issued by the U.S. State Department, Hamiyah is “the head of Hizbullah's External Security Organization (ESO),” which allegedly “maintains organized cells worldwide.”

“The ESO is the Hizbullah element responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of terrorist attacks outside of Lebanon,” the U.S. statement said.

Shukr meanwhile is “a senior Hizbullah operative” who “played a central role in the planning and execution of the October 23, 1983 U.S. Marine Corps Barracks Bombing in Beirut, Lebanon, which killed 241 U.S. service personnel,” the State Department said.
