Gunfight in Tripoli’s Qobbeh Area over Illegal Construction
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية
A gunfight erupted between the Internal Security Forces and Qobbeh residents in the northern port city of Tripoli on Tuesday after a dispute over efforts to curb illegal construction.
Voice of Lebanon radio station (93.3) said that Qobbeh residents in the area of al-Bqar held a sit-in against attempts by the ISF to end the construction of illegal buildings.
They blocked the road with burning tires to prevent the ISF from approaching the area, it said.
But security forces came under fire, forcing the ISF patrol to fire back, VDL added.
The Army and other policemen, who were dispatched to the area, interfered to contain the incident and disperse the protestors.
They later reopened the road that was blocked by burning tires.
to those who keep blaming hezbollah for every incident that happens, whether related to weapons or illegal constructions, please read here and be honest with yourselves. illegal constructions are a nationwide problem, not a sectarian one, and everybody has arms, you guys know it. it needs to be discussed by all sides, but for the dialogue to be honest and have a chance the hypocrisy must stop.
@Mowaten Have you forgotten the arms possessed by Syrian agents? Eid, Karami's & Mikati?. Evidently you know nothing about Tripoli.
Assuming these are simple Lebanese, their small arms are nothing in the face of medium & heavy weaponry possessed by Syrian Agents.
It would not surprise me if this raid was politically motivated.
@ mowaten talking about arms yes about 80% if not of lebanese households have guns. but as a terror party aka "Hezzis" it's 99 to 1 % I don't see anyone but your beloved party terrorizing the country by the forcr of weapon.
Hizbollah arms are not the only problem we have, it's just the biggest. Other people have arms and should be disarmed as well. The reason why Hizbollah arms are the ones in the spotlight is because they are way more powerful than rifles and other light arms that other individuals have. Also more importantly, they are funded by Iran, for Irani's (and Syrian) interests, with complete disregards to the Lebanese interests, and because they (Hizbollah) are very organized, and planning ahead on a very clear strategical political goal, and the arms are being used as the strategical tool to achieve the political goals which are against the rest of Lebanese long terms interests.
I can not claim to know or define what are the goals or interests of the Lebanese, but as an individual, I want to be able to vote and influence the political decisions through my vote in a democratic manner, and Hizbollah arms are stopping me, as they are used at any moment to change the political views of others.
I want those weapons to be under the Lebanese government control, so that people vote on what and where and how these weapons are used. I don't want Iran's Khamenei or Syria's Bashar dictating on us what to do, and using us to bomb UN forces, or fire rockets on Israel, or kidnap Estonian cyclists because that suits him in fighting his war against his people.
So yes, I want to see all arms in Lebanon under the control of the government. But it's much harder to ask someone with a rifle to surrender it, while a party with an arsenal of rockets and heavy weaponry boldly refuse to do so.
charbel: how is defending the country against israeli occupation and theft of water, oil & gas in "complete disregards to the lebanese interests" ?
how did those weapons supposedly forbid you to vote for LF or Kataeb?
and even assuming the weapons are used for internal pressure, how are the long range rockets, anti-ship and eventually anti-aircraft rockets of any use?
besides that, there is no link whatsoever between the bombing of the UN convoy, the recent rockets fired and the estonian cyclists kidnapping and hezbollah. not a single proof, only empty accusations. not only were they against hezbollah's interest, but also since when did they ever do an operation and not claim responsibility for it?
careful what you wish for...the nazis outlawed gun ownership and this allowed the people to be powerless in challenging the nazi party. in the US, the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution is the "Right to Bear Arms". Ownership of light arms (pistols or shotguns) should be regulated, registered, licensed and allowed. Heavy weapons such as what the HIzb has are UNACCEPTABLE. They are doing what the PLO did in the late 70s and early 80s...trying to create a state within a state. The PLO were creating a Palestinian state and Hizb is creating an IRANIAN state. Their allegiance is to Tehran, not Beirut. They take their orders from Tehran, not Beirut. They are nothing more than an Iranian proxy militia with Lebanese passports. It's that simple.
Nobody should be above the law.... that is what we desire. When other communities see the behavior of the hizb and its supporters, they tend to emulate it. Disruptive behavior will spread, use of weapons becomes common place, and a state of lawlessness will prevail.
yaret they emulated it more then, if all other parties showed as much patriotism and courage as hezbollah did then I would stop worrying about israel
Mowaten speaks civil and pretend he is trying to engage in political debate, but at the core, you are rotten as rotten as the Hizbullah thugs and the Baathists you continue to defend. So we are not fooled by you, remove the lebanese avatar and place an iranian one, this way you are true with yourself.
ya elielebnan, stop trying to pretend you are judge of who is lebanese and who isnt, you speak of rot but it is your sectarianism and bigotry which is rotten to the core
Mowaten, YOUR allegiance is to "IRAN" and not Lebanon so, what gives you the right to speak as Lebanese.
I just read mowaten's response to a poster on another topic and here it is:
Truly Lebanese 4 hours ago 25
No more Mollah cash
and soon the syrian border closed for your smuggling.
Hassan your days are numbered

Truly israeli: keep dreaming
hmmmmm.... i wonder now who is "pretending to be a judge of who is Lebanese and who is not...."
You are drowning in your smarmy self-importance not unlike your thug leader who whimsically classifies people as traitors and patriots and whose unctuous manner has obviously influenced your upbringing and distorted thinking. No further comments.......
@mowaten, i agree on the first comment you posted, but what i disagree on, is that ISF are shooting people that are suniite from tripoli ALTHOUGH AS YOU ALL IN MARCH 8TH SAY ISF IS A HARIRI MAFIA, you see they dont make a difference between citizens, but dont forget that the difference here is that ISF couldnt continue its job in the south removing illegal constructions :) guess why?.
I love the Fact that everybody said ISF is hariris mafia, you've got pure proof that they apply the law to all, ISF and Its top leaders Andaf men Hassoune and the rest of the thugs in Hezbollah and the Aounis
what a difference a single "Letter" in a name makes...... ( mOwaten v.s mUwaten ).....LOL! I like this sequel: It is like Luke SkyWalker against Darth Vader. Well, we know who wins in the end!
Mowaten. Israel can send Lebanon to hell. Hezbollah is nothing compared to their army.
Hezbollah and Israel have the status quo towards them in the MIddle East.
If Israel did not want Hezbollah to be where they are, they wouldn't be where they are. Same with Bashar in Syria. Tell me of Bashar's great attempts to take the golan back, oh wait, bashar bashar fil lubnan arnab arnab bil julan!
Oh, and didnt Hezbollah attack Haifa in the 2006 war and kill like 10 Palestinians? Yeah definitely defenders of Palestine right there
I see that "Mowaten" took a pretty good beating today.......LOL! Frankly speaking, it's been long overdue:))))) But, will "The Evil Empire Strike Back"......?
cant reason with idiots but oh well... we, the 'other' opinion, arent here to defend bashar or iran. so you really make me laugh when someone tells me i'm an iranian, a syrian, a thug or i'm paid to comment. you dont have to agree on our opinions but debate is nice. jund al sham, the akkar mercenaries that hariri and joumblat threw at hezbollah in may 7, nahr al bared, al qaeda infiltrators, they wouldnt be here without saudi (read: fundamentalist sunni) green light fom KSA and Lebanon. hezbollah, achieved a stalemate with israel. the only way israel can get rid of hezbollah is by nuking them. this is not a good idea because hezbollah is on the border, not the heartland. so support hezbollah and beware the more sinister and armed enemies who are already among us ready to unleash another nahr al bared if we arent united enough. hezbollah has had many opportunities to occupy lebanon and didnt. on the 7th of may 2 shiites were slaughtered by druzes, without hezbollah retaliation.
last and least: hariri always supported hezbollah while in power. now that's he's ousted, hezbollah is no good anymore? pitiful puppies you are, my dears. politics are really a matter of perspective. and since it's a game of perspectives we choose real men with balls while M14 go for twitterers in exile and big mouthed drama queens.
@sweating_demon...here is proof that goes against your "without retaliation"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkoDJMGgt4g
@mowaten (but not only specifically to him)...Have you heard of Robert Fisk? Hes a western reporter that has been in Lebanon his entire life. He has a documentary.."The martyrs smile", I do recommend it for everyone. It was done in the 90's and honestly there is a big difference between Hizbullah back then and now. video can be found of youtube by the way.
And btw, why were there posters of bashar Al Assad all over beirut on the 7th of may?
Nasrallah will never publiclly admit that he follows Iran and Syria because if he did, you wont be his supporter anymore. Its politics, you gotta try n read between the lines cuz you will never find out what they actually say behind closed doors.
hey 'G spot' this was no 'retaliation' habibi this was an appetizer. hezbollah still needed to subdue the 1000 mercenaries from akkar, remember? and when joumblat was shown that the jabal can actually burn down should hezbollah desire it, he became more reasonable. ba3den how seriously can i take you if your name is 'G'? but still, i'm all for fairness. G spot. hehe
sweating baby: it seems you do not remember that aoun said that the day syria would leave lebanon they would infiltrate it with islamists to destabilize it...
look what happened the day they left:
naher el bared islamists coming from? syria...
and now since syria has pbs, in order to warn lebanon and the international community that without them islamists will destabilize the region :estonians kidnapped, there was bombings in tyre, rockets in the south, unrest in saida...and strangely in the region controlled by ...hezbollah...there little dog
so tell us what you want, all points again to syria not to saudi arabia!
remember aoun said also that syria s game was always to set up fires and then come as a hero to put them out? divise lebanon to better control it was always their motto!
so explain why aoun said that? he was a liar? he said it right before coming to lebanon too, so not long ago...
strange you don t see that as you seem to be a political analyst
sweating boy ="since it's a game of perspectives we choose real men with balls "
like aoun i guess who said for years that hezb was a terrorist party and syria a terrorist regime and now praises both :
yes sure the M8 leaders sure have balls....
It is Bashar al-Assad's regime that funded fateh al Islam and not Hariri... The army knows it but they chose to keep it from the public.
march 14 go and fix your back yard before talking about any one else.
march 14 go and fix your back yard before talking about any one else.
@retardoun: shu, where were you the last few days? back to iran for some more training? anyway, you were not missed.
There is something terribly wrong with this country...
What a pity to see guys from M8 and M14 use so much energy for nothing.
You guys (mowaten, sweating demon, peace, skyfall etc) seem like clever and patriotic Lebanese whichever side you belong to...
It would be much more constructive if you used this energy to reject this corrupt political establishment, be it M8 or M14 (they are the same, one camp being pro syrian and the other pro american is just a tactical positioning so that they are still able to control us, the people), and to build a new Lebanese nation for the people and by the people...
Stop bashing at each, other you are all brothers...
Hopefully, I won't stay a voice that cries in the wilderness for long...
