Berri Meets Rouhani, Larijani in Tehran

Speaker Nabih Berri held a meeting on Wednesday with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran after holding talks with Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani, media reports said.

“The meeting was productive,” said Berri after meeting Rouhani, “he noted the calm situation in Lebanon voicing hopes it remains this way.”

Earlier, on the third day of his visit to Tehran Berri had met with Larijani where discussions highlighted the latest regional developments and the work of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) member states, the National News Agency reported.

On Tuesday Berri met with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after a speech knocking Israel's plans to build a wall along the Lebanese border.

Addressing attendees of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states, Berri called for the annulment of the Oslo peace accords, of the early 1990s, which form the basis of the Palestinians' relations with Israel.

He also called for moving embassies of Islamic states from Washington in retaliation to US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
