Visiting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier inspected on Tuesday the UNIFIL naval peacekeeping forces in the port of Beirut, the State-run National News Agency reported.
Earlier, Steinmeier visited Dar al-Fatwa where he met with Muslim and Christian leaders, added NNA.
The German President had arrived in Beirut on Monday and met with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun in Baabda. He stressed that Germany “cares about stability in Lebanon and it is in our interest that it continues.”
During his two-day, he is set to meet with top Lebanese officials.
Steinmeier's visit to Lebanon is the first of a German president to Lebanon in 120 years.
