Hariri Meets Armenian Counterpart

Prime Minister Saad Hariri has met on Monday with visiting Armenian counterpart Karen Karapetyan at the Grand Serail, the National News Agency reported.

In joint press conference, Karapetyan affirmed “close ties and high-standard relations between Lebanon and Armenia.”

“We agreed to consider the establishment of a joint Armenian-Lebanese fund to support joint initiatives and develop the energy and renewable energy system,” he said.

For his part, Hariri said: “My meeting was excellent with the Prime Minister of Armenia, and our ties are historic, deep and solid.”

“We will cooperate in many areas, including banking and tourism sector. We are keen to have the Higher Committee between the two countries meet as soon as possible,” he added.

Karapetyan had arrived in Lebanon Monday on an official visit at the invitation of Hariri, NNA said.

He is scheduled to meet with President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri.
