Geagea: No Lebanon without Cedar Revolution, No Cedar Revolution without LF
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed Wednesday that “there can be no Lebanon without the Cedar Revolution and there can be no Cedar Revolution without the LF.”
“March 14 is the spirit of a nation and a people's cause. It is a cause of freedom and the future of generations. Some think that March 14 no longer exists but they are mistaken,” Geagea said at an LF ceremony to announce the party's candidates and platform for the parliamentary elections.
“March 14 will triumph in the end for a simple reason, which is that it alone embodies Lebanon's reality and future,” Geagea vowed.
He noted that “there is no State in Lebanon” because “a large part of its powers is usurped” by Hizbullah.
“Some are trying to cover up for this abnormal situation through an equation which they describe as a golden equation whereas it is a 'paper equation,'” Geagea said, referring to the so-called army-people-resistance equation.
“This equation does not exist anywhere else on the face of the earth... It completely contradicts with the principle of the state that is known internationally,” the LF leader pointed out.
He emphasized that there is a need for “the presence of the strategic, military and security decisions in the hands of the state's legitimate institutions, which alone should monopolize the use of force.”
“We must confront those responsible for the flawed situation, mainly Hizbullah, but also all the forces and parties who work hard to find justifications and cover up for this flaw. We must not vote for any list that includes someone who has tried to justify or cover up for this blatantly flawed situation,” Geagea underlined.
Turning to the LF's performance in recent years, the LF leader noted that his party's ministers have “confronted every proposal that contradicts with the legal norms and every file suspected of entailing corruption.”
“Everyone wants to resolve the electricity problem, but the difference is that some political parties want to violate the applicable measures and laws,” Geagea added.
He said that fighting corruption should take place through “voting for non-corrupt candidates, not slogans.”
“Get rid of corrupt politicians instead of talking about them,” Geagea urged.
He added: “Our experience in state institutions has been successful for twelve years. Have you ever heard any rumor about an LF MP or minister?”
Geagea also vowed that the LF will work to “restore the state's decision and monopoly of arms” and to “preserve freedoms.”
