Syria Says Repelled 'Missile Attack' on Homs Military Airport

A Syrian military airport came under a “hostile missile attack” Thursday evening, Syria's state news agency SANA said.

“One of our military airports in the central region has come under a missile attack and our air defense systems have confronted the attack and prevented it from achieving its goals,” SANA quoted a Syrian military source as saying.

The agency had earlier reported blasts around the al-Dabaa military airport in Homs' countryside.

Shortly before the reported attack, several warplanes were seen and heard flying over the Lebanese capital Beirut and the Mount Lebanon region.

Israel has several times used Lebanon's airspace to carry out airstrikes in Syria in recent months. The raids usually target bases belonging to Hizbullah and Iranian forces.
