Sayyed to Khalil: Encroaching on Retired Servicemen Rights is Playing with Fire
Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil "has not realized that encroaching on the rights of retired servicemen is playing with fire," MP Jamil al-Sayyed said on Tuesday.
"He proposed tax exemptions for tycoons, Solidere and others as he overlooked seaside properties and the central bank's financial engineering tactics which resulted in the waste of $10 billion!" Sayyed tweeted.
"These demonstrators are the voice of all Lebanese," Sayyed added, referring to the retired servicemen who staged several sit-ins in the morning in rejection of any austerity-related wage cuts.
Khalil meanwhile reassured Tuesday that the draft state budget does not include any plans to decrease the salaries of retired servicemen.
