Aoun Meets Diab ahead of Higher Defense Council Meeting

President Michel Aoun held talks Wednesday afternoon with Prime Minister Hassan Diab ahead of a Higher Defense Council meeting.

Aoun has called for the Defense Council meeting to discuss "measures to control cross-border smuggling."

The issue of smuggling has stirred a wave of controversy in the country in recent days.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea is leading the calls for putting an end to the illegal practice.
