Pechalat, Bourzat Retain Ice Dance Title at Euros

Ice dancers Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat of France retained their free dance title at the European figure skating championships on Friday by overhauling Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev.

Trailing the Russian pair by 0.17 points after Wednesday's short dance, Pechalat and Bourzat brought the crowd to their feet with a rousing performance to the moody "The Pharaoh and His Mummy" to score 99.29 points.

Their overall total of 164.18 points was 3.95 more than Bobrova and Soloviev, who scored 95.17 points in the free dance to finish second.

Bourzat said: "It's a great pleasure for us to win this title again."

Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov of Russia took bronze, the country's fifth medal at the championship.
