Abu Faour Says Expat Parliamentary Seats a 'Silly Idea'
MP Wael Abu Faour of the Democratic Gathering bloc on Sunday said “the election of six MPs representing Lebanese expats is a silly propaganda idea that was imposed by the Free Patriotic Movement.”
In a tweet, Abu Faour said the FPM “imposed” the idea in the electoral law during the “era of its previous political clout” and that it was later accepted by its allies.
“The idea must be buried, the law must be amended and Lebanese expats must vote in the countries of diaspora for the 128 MPs,” the lawmaker added, calling on the Lebanese to “bury this abomination of a law and the sick mind that produced it.”
