Army: Israeli Warplanes Raid Gaza Strip
Israeli warplanes early Thursday carried out two raids on the north and center of the Gaza Strip following a rocket attack on southern Israel, an army spokeswoman said.
The attacks, which came after an Israeli police spokesman said three rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip without claiming victims, were aimed at "centers of terrorist activity," the army spokeswoman said.
Since the beginning of the year some 20 rockets have been fired at southern Israel from the Palestinian enclave controlled by the militant Hamas movement, according to the Israeli army.
Hamas has maintained a tacit truce with Israel but other armed groups in the Gaza Strip regularly fire rockets at Israel, with reprisal raids usually following.
