MP Maalouf in Hospital after Collapsing during Bkirki Mass
Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Edgard Maalouf was hospitalized on Sunday after he suffered from hypertension and collapsed during a mass in Bkirki.
Dr. Charles Jazra told OTV however that Maalouf was in a stable condition and could resume his functions soon.
Maalouf collapsed as Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi was celebrating mass on the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
TV footage showed the lawmaker falling on his chair before being attended by those sitting next to him.
Maalouf was among several Change and Reform MPs attending the mass, including the bloc’s leader Michel Aoun.
