iPhone App to Rate Ugliness makes $80000 Per Day

Ugly meter is an iPhone app that rates how ugly you are, has attracted millions of users going up the chart, according to the UK Daily Mail.

The application takes your picture and scans the contours of your face before rating you on a scale of 1 to 10, knowing its least favored for people to score a perfect 10 in this game.

The app, which sells for $0.99 in the App store, uses an on-screen grid to help the user line up the picture for best results and, moments after the picture is snapped the app’s caustic judgment is displayed on the screen. Ratings could be stinging barbs such as ‘You’re so ugly, you could make a glass eye cry' or flattering ‘you are so hot you make the sun jealous’.

Ugly Meter currently sits at No 26 in China's booming iPhone market and No 25 in the U.S.

For three weeks it sat at the top of the Chinese charts, happily dishing out ratings to those who dared.

The developers say they have made more than half a million dollars on the app - admitting it made $80,000 in just a single day after it was mentioned on the Howard Stern radio show in the U.S.

A shy British crowd has elected not to spend any coppers on the app - it does not appear in the Top 200 UK apps.
