PSP Says Mass Participation at Sunday's Rally Cannot be Taken Lightly

Walid Jumblat’s Progressive Socialist Party said that Sunday’s rally at the Martyrs Square “cannot be taken” lightly and should be an occasion to bridge the gap with half of the Lebanese people.

The PSP made the comment on its website.

“No one could deny … that the scene that brought together large political forces in the country represented half of the Lebanese people which wanted through their mass participation to express rejection at a status quo and mistakes,” the site said.

While criticizing some slogans that could be seen inciting, the PSP urged all political forces to make a self examination as a way to “build bridges of dialogue with half of the Lebanese population.”

Jumblat, who has fallen out from the March 14 forces, did not make a comment on the rally.
