Raad Says Sharp Differences with FPM Will Not Lead to Rift

Head of Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammed Raad said on Saturday that the sharp differences with the Free Patriotic Movement will not lead to a rift between the allies, stressing that those who are staking on the collapse of agreements and allies will be disappointed.

“As long as there is a strategic understanding, no one will be able to create a rift,” Raad said.

He slammed those who tried to take advantage of the disagreement between the two parties in order to abolish the memorandum of understanding

“They will be disappointed,” Raad stated.

The parliament’s approval of Electricite du Liban’s contract workers’ full-time employment widened the gap between the tripartite alliance between AMAL, FPM and Hizbullah.

Energy Minister Jebran Bassil accused Speaker Nabih Berri of violating the constitution by not discussing his proposal at the parliament, adding that Hizbullah is playing the role of a “spectator.”

Berri decided to suspend the legislative session on Tuesday after Aoun’s Change and Reform bloc, the Phalange party, Lebanese Forces, Ashrafiyeh and Zahle MPs boycotted the session to protest the approval.

The Christian MPs argue that the permanent employment of the EDL workers would destabilize the sectarian balance at the state-run company as around 80 percent of them belong to non-Christian sects and most of them support Berri, who is a Shiite.

Raad pointed out that the resistance is the best choice to safeguard stability in Lebanon against Israel.

He said that Lebanon would be a great country if the resistance and the army were able to guarantee stability in it.

“Instead of drifting behind useless projects that aim at shredding the country and spreading division and strife among the Lebanese, we should be able to create a real country with a sponsoring state,” the MP said.

He lashed out at the Israeli threats, saying: “What the resistance is preparing for the enemy is bigger than all its illusions regarding its readiness.”

On Thursday, Israeli Brigadier-General Hertzi Halevy said that there are several factors that can ignite a war with Lebanon, warning that his country is preparing seriously and professionally for another Lebanon war.

Raad said that Hizbullah is reaching out to all the Lebanese even those who have political disputes with them.
