Suleiman Meets Baroud, Calls for Calming Political Rhetoric and Returning to Dialogue

President Michel Suleiman stressed on Saturday the need for calming the political rhetoric in Lebanon and returning to dialogue.

He said: “Internal affairs can only be settled through dialogue, cooperation, and national consensus.”

He urged all sides to avoid “pointless disputes and positions that only serve to complicate matters on the internal and external scenes.”

The President noted that Lebanon’s foreign policy lies in averting taking sides in regional conflicts that seek to transform Lebanon into an open ground to tackle these disputes.

Suleiman later held talks with caretaker Interior Minister Ziad Baroud on the latest security developments, especially the prison file in Lebanon.
