Doctors Face Manslaughter Probe in Morosini Death

Three doctors are being investigated for alleged manslaughter following the death of Italian footballer Piermario Morosini last season.

Morosini, who was on loan from Serie A side Udinese, collapsed and died during Livorno's Serie B match at Pescara on April 14 after a heart attack. Forensic tests later revealed he suffered from an inherited heart disease.

Both clubs' doctors — Ernesto Sabatini (Pescara) and Manlio Porcellini (Livorno) — are being investigated over their actions, as is Vito Molfese of Pescara's emergency services.

The three doctors were the first to attend to Morosini and have been criticized for not using a defibrillator.

The ambulance was delayed in getting to the player because of a police car blocking its way into the stadium. A window had to be broken so the car could be moved.
