Bahrain Says Hizbullah's 'Radical Ideology' Threatens Gulf Stability

Bahraini Minister of Justice,Islamic Affairs and Endowments,Sheikh Khalid bin Ali al-Khalifa considered on Saturday Hizbullah as one of the dangers that are threatening the region as “it possesses an extremist ideology.”

“We have been exerting efforts for the past several months to contact all the political factions in Bahrain to reach an understanding.” Sheikh Khalid said.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister pointed out that the main threat confronting the region's national security is the “extremist ideology” that Hizbullah, the Shirazi Movement and al-Sadr Movement adopt.

He stressed that this kind of ideology “doesn't believe in citizenship and peaceful coexistence in communities as it depends on deepening sectarianism... to undermine security and stability in Bahrain and the gulf countries.”

Hizbullah has been a strong advocate for the popular protests in Bahrain that began in 2011.

Ties between Lebanon and Bahrain reached an all-time low last year when Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah slammed the crackdown on the protestors.

His remarks prompted the Bahraini authorities to suspend the flights of Gulf Air and Bahraini Air between Manama and Beirut for several months.
