Miqati Meets Madi: Nothing Will Be Spared in Order to Uncover Truth behind Hasan Assassination

Prime Minister Najib Miqati held talks on Monday with General Prosecutor Hatem Madi over the ongoing investigations into the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Wissam al-Hasan.

The premier said: “All expertise will be utilized in order to assist the investigation in the murder.”

He added that the cabinet's decision to resort to foreign assistance falls in line with this goal.

“Going through with the investigation until the very end is a national demand in order to achieve security in Lebanon,” he added.

Moreover, Miqati stressed the need for all those behind the crime to be put on trial and punished.

Hasan, along with two others, was killed in a massive car bomb in Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district on October 19.

A U.S. investigation team arrived in Beirut on Thursday and began gathering evidence at the scene of the bombing that killed Hasan.

Madi stressed on Friday that he cleared to the FBI investigation team “its limits” in the investigation, setting its task to providing the Lebanese security agencies with the technical assistance only in the probe into Hasan's assassination.

“The FBI team will not interfere in the investigations,” Madi said in comments published in al-Joumhouria newspaper.

Madi added that the Lebanese investigation team will “report to him personally” and he will in turn give them their tasks.
