Phalange Calls on All Powers to 'Facilitate President's Role' in Ending Political Crisis

The Phalange Party called on the government on Monday to recognize its “incompetence” and end the crisis that is negatively affecting the Lebanese people.

It said after its weekly politburo meeting: “All powers must facilitate the role of President Michel Suleiman and work according to the constitution to produce a salvation government as soon as possible.”

The party blamed the government for the “loss of sovereignty” in Lebanon, increase in unemployment, and poor economic situation.

“The closure of a number of commercial and industrial institutions is only the tip of the iceberg,” it noted.

“The government is completely absent in assuming its responsibilities in confronting these challenges,” it added.

Moreover, it highlighted the international interest in Lebanon during its crisis as demonstrated by French President Francois Hollande's visit to the country on Sunday.

The visit demonstrated the “depth of ties between Lebanon and France,” said the Phalange Party.

Hollande briefly visited Lebanon on Sunday where he only met with Suleiman.
